While I don't find anything particularly original or interesting about a shot of a bird, I think you executed this beautifully. The shallow depth of field is beautiful, and bokeh is nice. The composition is excellent. I actually do like empty space surrounding the bird. The lightness of the background draws attention to the bird, but the darker foreground provides the frame with a little bit f foundation. I personally think this shot could benefit from a little more contrast, but that might just be a matter of personal preference as the shot looks fine the way it is. All in all I think this is an amazing capture, and a stunning image.

How cute! You've captured this beautiful little bird brilliantly. Although the ground is a little boring it and the vibrant color of the bird really keeps the main subject, the bird in focus, which is a good technique you've used, and the focus also shows a lot of detail, right down to the fluffiness of it's feathers. I also like the bird's expression that you've caught, although the concept has been done before, you've pulled it off rather nicely. The colors that you've used is easy on the eyes and the vibrant red is the first thing that my eyes are drawn to. Very nice work, this is a lovely piece!

Cardinals are such beautiful birds, i feel so privileged to see one in a photo.
i like the way the colors turned out here, they create a lovely contrast with the red feathers of the bird.
